In partnership with MARION, Tuggeranong Arts Centre brings you Pilot Paragraphs, two experiential sessions that explore different connections to the Canberra Literary scene. These sessions are designed to bring the community together and offer literary feedback and connection. Next in the series is an Armchair Reading on Friday, 25 November.

Armchair Reading: Friday 25 November, 4-5pm
Take this opportunity to listen to Emma Batchelor, queer writer and author from Canberra read an excerpt of her work or take an opportunity to share your own work and hear your characters come to life in the form of a live reading. You can supply a chapter or excerpt of dialogue from a piece of your current work to be read aloud with others. This opportunity allows writers to hear how their characters sound and receive feedback on how their work is received. Interested in sharing your work ? About Emma
Emma Batchelor is a queer writer and author from Canberra. From 2016-2019 she edited and wrote for online publication Leiden, and in 2017 published ‘Building a Conscious Wardrobe (and other fun things)’ a book championing conscious consumerism. In May, 2021 her first novel ‘Now that I see you’ won the Australian/Vogel Literary Award before being released in the US in 2023. Emma regularly writes on the arts, gender and sexuality, mental illness and identity.

Slam Poetry Night : Friday 8 September, 6-8pm
An experience for all poets, rappers, spoken word and hip hop artists, a chance to perform in front of a live audience and experience real time feedback. This evening will include cameo performances from Fresh Funk and students form the ANU School of Music Hip Hop Song Writing course held at Tuggeranong Arts Centre. Interested in performing?
